The Overview

Sheraton Hotels has 450+ properties located in 75+ countries. With more then 150,000 guest rooms, Sheraton is among of the largest users of custom printed pens in the world.

The Problem

With properties spread out over 6 continents there was an assorted range of pen styles and qualities being used by the Sheraton Properties. There was no brand consistency among the properties.

The Solution

Sheraton engaged Inkwell to standardize their pens globally, secure the lowest prices with China-based factories and monitor distribution worldwide. Inkwell designers worked with the Sheraton team to select a pen style and branding that would positively reflect the Sheraton brand globally.

Leveraging Sheratons high pen volume worldwide, Inkwell negotiated prices and secured production capacity lines with the largest pen factories in China. Inkwell manages the entire procurement process, monitors internal as well as third party testing and directs all shipping and logistics. Within 180 days, the new standardized pen had penetration in 98% of the Sheraton’s Worldwide. The results were a higher quality writing instrument, significantly lower costs, consistent messaging and consistent branding worldwide.
