We are currently living in an age of the largest consumer generation than ever before. While consumerism is consistently booming, promotional products are dubbed the number one form of advertisement for consumers. In 2016, 21 billion dollars of the advertising market was spent on promotional products covered in brand logos and taglines including, but not limited to pens, sunglasses, baseball caps, mugs, water bottles, and drawstring bags. This goes to show promotional products such as those listed above are able to reach an extremely wide audience and can broadcast about a product or company in ways that that other forms of marketing and advertising cannot.
Promotional products are at their best when they are commonly used objects that people can’t get enough of. It has been proven that nearly half of the millennial population will keep a promotional product that they receive because it fits their lifestyle. In fact, 80% of the general population will keep their promotional products, and out of the 20% who don’t, they will pass the product along to someone else. This is an interactive form of marketing and advertising that is very effective because the brand will travel and be seen from one person to the next. Not only do promotional products spread the company’s brand by being passed to one another, but they increase the involvement of consumers as well.
In conclusion, consumerism is continuing to grow, which means traditional forms of advertising such as promotional products will be sticking around for quite some time. So, the next time you pass a car covered in a brands’ stickers or use a pen that has a logo on it, realize the effect and the success of that promotional product. It will travel further than you could imagine. Please check out the video to learn more!
